Serge Mouille (b. 1922) was a French designer known for his lighting. He studied at Applied Arts from age 13, and his mentor, Gabriel Lacroix, taught him to master metal shaping. After the war, Mouille became a renowned goldsmith and, in 1951, his career shifted when Jacques Adnet asked him to design a "large luminaire." This led to Mouille's **Three-Armed Floor Lamp** and the famous **Black Shapes** series, which transformed him from a craftsman into a creative artist.
