Ilse Lang
After graduating with an architecture degree, Ilse Lang designed her first piece of furniture in 1988 for the Movesp contest. Winning first prize, she shifted her focus to furniture design, a decision that led to her recognition as one of the top contemporary Brazilian designers.
Born in Caçapava, a southern Brazilian town, Lang draws inspiration from her region's cold, monochromatic landscape. She views innovation as a process of simplification, focusing on the essential elements. For her, successful design is a balance of form and function, where form is a result of function but is also connected to our emotions and cultural heritage. Her furniture is known for its simple, pure aesthetic, cleverness, and functionality.
