DESIGNER
Joe Colombo
Cesare “Joe” Colombo was a Milanese designer who, with his "futuristic" style, transformed Italian daily life. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera and joining the Nuclear Movement, he turned his focus to architecture and product design in 1961. He opened his own studio in Milan three years later. Colombo redefined the role of the industrial designer in Italy during the 1960s. His work was characterized by an interest in the kinetic, a focus on change, and the transformability of objects and spaces. Despite his career being cut short at 41, his iconic products continue to be influential today.
