Halley is an orbital structure that literally allows all possible movements while remaining in position, by moving the lamp head using only one hand. With no fewer than 6 joints, each with 360 degrees of rotation, the lamp can move freely in three-dimensional space. The sphere acts as a counter-balance for the weight of the luminaire, ensuring stability.

DESIGNER
Richard Sapper
German by birth, but universally considered one of the leading figures in Made in Italy design: much of Richard Sapper’s award-winning career is indeed linked to Milan, where from 1958 onwards, for over half a century, he changed the way design was understood with his unconventional style and his unyielding curiosity. There are numerous projects left as a legacy by the genius from Munich, such as Halley, one of the very first attempts to implement LED technology into a design lamp. To commemorate Sapper’s great contribution, he received 10 Compasso d’Oro awards from 1960 to 1998, plus a Compasso d’Oro for his career in 2014.
