David Geckeler and Frank Michels founded their Berlin design studio, GECKELER MICHELS, in 2013. The duo's functionalist approach integrates design history and digital methods. Their studio, a research laboratory, designs rooms, furniture, and products. For Tecta, they created the F8 sofa, a design that brings formal seating into the digital age.

Tecta is a German furniture company founded in 1956 by the Lauenstein family, based in the town of Lauenförde. The brand is particularly famous for its connection to the Bauhaus movement and for producing re-editions of iconic Bauhaus furniture designs.
